ABOUT IPAI FAIRHOPE:
IPAI Fairhope is a 2-week intensive that focuses on preparing young emerging singing and piano artists for professional auditions in the United States and offering professional performance opportunities. It is a space where singers from classical, musical theatre, and contemporary backgrounds can connect with other artists and industry professionals to hone their audition skills, develop or refine an audition package for any genre, and network with local and regional agents and theatre directors. Crossover, multi-hyphenate, and multi-genre artists are encouraged to apply, as well as traditional opera or musical theatre performers who are looking to sing for regional directors, make new connections, or even explore other crossover genres. Young musical theatre performers who are trying to bridge the gap between early training and mastering the audition process may also find this program of particular interest. Artists participate in workshops that focus on topics like individual repertoire selection and feedback; marketing, branding, and entrepreneurship in the arts; style and interpretation; presentation of oneself as a total artist; dance and stage movement workshops; collaborating with other artists and building your own projects; characterization and acting for audition settings; preparing and keeping up with current trends for audition materials and recordings. Performers receive weekly voice lessons and coachings; participate in 3-6 concerts including a voice competition, cabaret nights (jazz, contemporary, and multi-genre concerts), musical theatre concerts, and classical (art song, opera, etc.) concerts; and get the one-on-one mentorship, connection, and advising for which IPAI is known. The program culminates in the Voices of Summer Vocal Competition where artists perform for and network with guest judges who are directors and agents from regional theaters and casting agencies. Participants can opt for an all-inclusive experience that includes housing at the Hampton Inn in downtown Fairhope and lunch or choose to arrange their own lodging and food accommodations. Transportation is not included in the cost of tuition. The programs of study offered in Fairhope are Voice (all genres), Collaborative Piano, and Teaching Fellowship.
