Service Description
Canadian pianist, conductor, vocal coach and consultant Carrie-Ann Matheson was engaged in 2014 by Music Director Fabio Luisi as conductor, pianist and vocal coach at Opernhaus Zürich. Previously, she was an assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, where she was a member of the Met’s select full time music staff. She has assisted such renowned conductors as James Levine, Fabio Luisi, Daniel Barenboim, Yannick Nezet-Seguin and Gianandrea Noseda, among many others. Carrie-Ann Matheson made her conducting debut in 2015 at Opernhaus Zürich, and has since conducted new productions of Oscar Strasnoy’s Fälle, Jonathan Dove’s Der Verzauberte Schwein, and Jörn Arnecke’s Ronja Räubertochter. She has also conducted revival performances of Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera and Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride. Ms. Matheson is particularly interested in the development of young singers and pianists. For many years she was the staff coach of the Metropolitan Opera’s prestigious Lindemann Young Artist development program. She has continued this work at Opernhaus Zürich, regularly working with the International Opera Studio as coach and as conductor for their mainstage gala concerts.
