2011 International Belting Seminar-July 7-14, 2011
The International Performing Arts Institute presents the International Belting Seminar in the Bavarian Alps July 7-14, 2011. This week-long intensive seminar on Belting will be presented by an international faculty of Belting specialists including: Bruce Earnest, Elizabeth Eaton, Lynda Kemeny and others. Tuition includes hotel and food, daily pedagogical performance masterclasses with faculty, private lessons and repertoire development for Musical Theatre. Trips to the Salzburg Festival can also be arranged. Participants will be working directly with IPAI students training for a career in Musical Theatre or Opera. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants and college credit is available to those involved in graduate or post-graduate research. The faculty leading the International Belting Seminar are all classically trained singer-actors. IBS adheres to NATS guidelines on healthy and pedagogically sound teaching in the area of musical theatre singing-Belting. Teaching is based on the Bel Canto School of singing and a contemporary approach to Compression Resonation. 2010 Master-teachers maintain an international masterclass schedule and have dozens of students working in European productions, on Broadway and in national tours throughout the United States.

For years classical teachers of voice have struggled to understand Belting technique. In the last ten years, organizations like the National Association Of Teachers Of Singing have included Belting workshops in their conferences and there is now a welcomed paradigm shift that is encouraging people to understand healthy Belting. IBS 2010 will be held in beautiful Kiefersfelden, Germany located in the heart of the Bavarian Alps. Approximately one hour from Munich, Salzburg and Innsbruck, the IBS Campus is easily accessible by car or train. Participants will be guests of the Hotel Zur Post and the Pfeiffer family. Dinning includes hearty, authentic Bavarian cuisine with home made soups, deserts and salad bar daily. Workshops are held within walking distance of the hotel throughout the quaint Bavarian village.
