Careers in Europe
Historically, Europe has provided substantial opportunities for
American performers. In the last 15 years, trends in Musical Theatre
and Opera have changed significantly. European theaters
are currently looking for singer-actors who are not only well-trained,
but extremely versatile. Competition for these jobs is stronger than in
the past but there is a demand for American Opera and Musical Theatre Artists. Because of this, IPAI offers current, competitive training
and preparation suitable to these newer demands.
In the Musical Theatre realm, European State theaters are now producing musicals in addition to opera and operetta. The largest private producer of Broadway quality musicals in Europe continues to be Stage
Entertainment. Stage Entertainment has produced musicals such as: Wicked, The Hunchback of
Notre Dame, Elton John's Aida, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Mamma
Mia and many, many others. These musicals continue to cast Americans in
both leading and supporting roles. Stage Entertainment owns and manages four theatres in New York City. Stage Entertainment has a solid reputation of producing the highest quality product and is known for generous employment contracts.
Starting a career in
Europe is an alternative to traditional Opera and Musical Theatre career paths. The IPAI experience provides training and a current network for artists that increases the chance for professional success. Talented artists are able to explore real opportunities of employment that are not focused solely on New York York City. This method of career development typically leads to international careers that have a global focus.
The European
performing experience typically offers higher compensation and
international performance opportunities in major cities all over the
world.
